Residents of the major Brazilian city of Fortaleza will soon have the opportunity to pay for their trips on public transport bitcoins. It is reported by The Block, with reference to local media.
In particular, the cooperative of autonomous passenger carriers of the state of Ceara, the capital of which is Fortaleza, intends to introduce a new option to buy tickets using cryptocurrency by the end of this year.
Paying a trip in public transport with Bitcoins will be possible with the help of a special application that currently allows you to buy tickets using debit and credit cards.
In the future, the application will support other cryptocurrencies.
“This is an attempt to reduce the bureaucracy, while simplifying the system for the user,” the cooperative said.
Recall that at the end of 2018, the Brazilian supermarket chain began to accept a number of cryptocurrencies for payment.
