In the UK, cryptocurrency exchanges are required to disclose customer data

The country’s Tax and Customs Administration has sent requests to at least three companies that provide their services in the country, such as Coinbase, eToro and CEX.IO

Cryptocurrency exchanges that operate in the UK will need to disclose customer data and their transaction histories at the request of the country’s Tax and Customs Board (HMRC). According to CoinDesk, at least three companies received relevant requests: Coinbase, eToro and CEX.IO.

“I think the audit will affect the past two or three years. In this case, users who came to the market earlier – in 2012-2013, will remain outside the scope of the tax authorities. Perhaps those who earned the most. But first of all, the check will concern customers who entered the market at the peak, ”the source said.

The HMRC emphasized that they have every right to send data requests to exchanges in order to find customers who may evade taxes. At the same time, the department did not directly confirm the fact of sending letters to specific trading floors.
