The police closed a large mining farm and confiscated 4,000 devices in Zhenjiang in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu. The reason was the theft of electricity for 20 million yuan ($ 3 million), the largest in the history of the region and one of the largest in the whole country.
Investigators believe that about 20 people participated in the theft, which was reported by a local electricity supplier. It is known that law enforcement officers have already applied coercive measures, but it is not specified whether they are arrests.
Earlier in China, a criminal case was opened against a resident of Heilongjiang Province, who was convicted of stealing electricity from an oil mining installation for bitcoin mining.
Recall that in late May, the Sichuan provincial authorities initiated an investigation into local cryptocurrency farms that operated on the territory of hydroelectric power stations in the Gardze district, allegedly without prior permission.
